Front-Page News: The Trinity Collegiate Titans Sports Banquet

Ask any athlete what they would do with a great season and a camera, and the answer is the same: make the front page.

So we did.

Trinity Collegiate School, the Titans, out of Darlington, South Carolina, closed out the year with their athletics banquet, a night to celebrate a season of hard work on the court and the field. We were thrilled to travel for it. When a celebration is worth doing right, we are happy to bring the booth to where the people are.

What we brought

For the Titans we designed a custom “Daily Titan” newspaper overlay, every photo printed up like a front-page sports headline, complete with the look of the morning paper. Athletes, families, and coaches stepped in and stepped out as cover stories. In blue, black, and white, right on brand for the team.

It is one of our favorite kinds of design work: take what a group is proud of, and turn it into something they will pin to the fridge.

Why it worked

A sports banquet is about recognition, a season of early practices and late games getting its due. The “Daily Titan” overlay gave every athlete a tangible piece of that recognition to take home. The photos were a hit, the line was full of team spirit, and the prints will outlast the trophies.
